El liderazgo en la Enseñanza de la Lengua Inglesa (ELI) en un contexto rural cubano Leadership in the teaching of the English language in a Cuban rural context

Esta investigación profundizó en el liderazgo en la Enseñanza del inglés en un entorno rural cubano, que se enfrenta a desafíos como la escasez de recursos, acceso limitado al desarrollo profesional y deserción de docentes calificados. El objetivo fue resaltar la importancia del liderazgo en el Desarrollo Profesional Continuo (DPC) de los docentes y su impacto en el desarrollo de las habilidades lingüísticas de los estudiantes. Para lograr este objetivo, se diseñó una estrategia para promover el DPC como parte de las acciones de la Asociación de Pedagogos de Cuba-Especialistas en Lengua Inglesa (APC-ELI), la cual fue implementada en la provincia. La investigación se basó en un estudio teórico descriptivo; se utilizaron el método inductivo-deductivo, observación y encuesta. Además, se resaltó la colaboración del Vicedecanato de Investigación y Posgrado del Campus Blas Roca Calderío, en conjunto con el apoyo del Consejo Británico, para facilitar el DPC de los profesores.

This research delved into leadership in English Teaching in a rural Cuban environment, which faces challenges such as scarcity of resources, limited access to professional development, and attrition of qualified teachers. The objective was to highlight the importance of leadership in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of teachers and its impact on the development of students’ language skills. To achieve this objective, a strategy was designed to promote CPD as part of the actions of the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba-English Language Specialists (APCELI), which was implemented in the province. The research was based on a descriptive theoretical study; inductive-deductive, observation and survey methods were used. In addition, the collaboration of the Vice-Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies of the Blas Roca Calderío Campus was highlighted, together with the support of the British Council, to facilitate the CPD of teachers.
